A YOGA MONKS PROFESSIONAL….
- Is doing or has done the 5 Year YogaMonks teacher training
- A 370 hour program in class with teacher as well as self practice above and beyond this 15 minutes to 1 hour per day
- 2 years preparatory (96 hours with teacher) for establishing ones own Sadhana - the daily spiritual practice discipline
- 3 years of continued study with the YM Professionals Teacher Training

Year 3= 13 modules 33 hours - Has a minimum of 1 hour a day of self practice
- Is studying ongoing with a Senior teacher even after the Professional Program is completed.

Course Contents - Comprehensive Guide per subject
ANATOMY
YEAR 1
Anatomic Body
Amazing Anatomy
Covers the physical Anatomy basics. For those who have no previous experience and study of anatomy.
If you have already studied anatomy in other schools and can confirm your studies, this section can be omitted.
We do recommend the Fascinating Fascia courses though as they are particular to the Yogamonks Practice.
Fascinating Fascia
Particular to the workings of Yogamonks, to know the bones and to know the fascia will help you in teaching this work. This course covers the Fascial body with a Yogamonks focus.
YEAR 2
Anatomic Spirit
This course covers the energy body anatomy. To give a basic understanding of chakras, bandhas and nadis in particular but also with an eye to the Chinese medicine system of meridians.
YEAR 3
Anatomic Mind
This course covers the basic understanding of glands and the alchemy of meditation.
Yogamonks
Each year of Sadhana covers the fundamentals of all practices of the YM yoga and pranayama and meditation practice at gradually increasing depth for your personal practice.
This is the base for your teaching in the future.
An Authentic Asana
Finding your own authenticity in your practice is the essence of the sadhana course. In the teacher training we will look at other aspects. Each Authentic Asana TT class includes:
Terms: vocabulary of the YM method, Sanskrit terminology of postures, finding your own words
Theory: the application of the principles in the sequence we are studying and the theory of the hatha yoga asanas involved
Touch: Guidelines on how to verbally, visually, physically and energetically touch your students in teaching classes, workshops, events, private sessions
Talk: discussion on the common challenges of teaching the sequence and learning the sequence, how to provide alternatives to all levels of students and how we are getting on in the home teaching assignments
Trial: Teaching the sequence to each other and in front of the group. Home practice of teaching. receiving feedback from the group and TT trainer.
Timing: We will look at the different rhythms in which a sequence can be taught, and also the levels of practice in a student, when is it the right time to advance a student to a new level. When is it time for each trainee to start teaching this particular sequence we are studying and when is the right time to add more.
As your own practice progresses your toolbox for teaching widens so the course only covers the teaching of the most fundamental practices. The vinyasas that are YM trademarked you will learn in your own practices, private sessions, workshops and TT retreats over the years, and can teach them when you feel ready and you have reached the general teaching level requirements described above.
Meanwhile, you might find that after a few years of the fundamental practices that the art of vinyasa is flowing through you and you will share new YM inspired work in your own unique way.
YEAR 1
An Authentic Asana
After taking this course, and having reached the basic level requirement for teaching YM, you will be able to teach the basic practices of Cat/Cow, Wag the Tail and the Moon Sequence. Enabling you to start courses, students on these practices.
Yogamonks Fundamentals
The guiding principles of this practice will be covered in theory and in application to movement.
YEAR 2
An Authentic Asana
Teaching warm up set, spinal movements and other basic asanas.
How to teach the basic pranayama of YM is taught.
YEAR 3
An Authentic Asana
Teaching Flavours and other vinyasas.
Sadhaka Spirit YEAR 1
The history of yoga, paths of yoga, practices and traditions, culture and heritage. The aspects of yoga including diet and other disciplines.
Sadhaka Spirit YEAR 2
The study of sacred rituals, rites, resonance, rhythms and roses.
The practice of silence, solitude and service.
The Vedas: introduction.
Sadhaka Spirit YEAR 3
Teaching meditation, mantra, and movement of spirit through these practices.
Learn to teach
Part 1: Teaching skills general, theory. Methods of teaching, how we as students learn and listen.
Part 2: Teaching skills specific to yoga, how to prepare yourself, your students and how to set up classes etc.. in the YM method.
Learn to earn
The busy-ness: Keeping a balance in your work ethic, ethical understanding of responsibility as a yoga teacher, and how to stay in busy-ness as a yoga teacher.
The busi-ness: Managing classes, students and meeting your financial commitments from a spiritual perspective that enhances the work you do and the flow of energy through your livelihood.
Required Reading
Read when it feels required, however there are a few texts that are indispensable. These will help you keep up with the teacher training theoretical discussions. You do not have to have read the scripts before the courses on spiritual texts. You can read them after too. Or both. Important thing is that it is read at some point during the year.
